Sports Arbitration and Sports Dispute Resolution Forums: UAE Arbitration Centre vs CAS

In the first article that was published on 5 May 2021 Clive D’Souza provided a background about the UAE legal system and the UAE Sports Arbitration Centre. In this article, which is the second part of a series of sports law articles, Clive D’Souza will discuss the internal dispute resolution mechanisms of certain UAE Sports Governing Bodies. He will highlight the types of disputes that fall under the jurisdiction of the UAE Sports Arbitration Centre and those that fall under the jurisdiction of the Court of Arbitration for Sports (CAS). The Article will also clarify the role of the alternative hearing centre of CAS in Abu Dhabi and the enforcement of foreign arbitration awards in the UAE.
